Gateway Hang Triage
The priority task is to fix the OpenClaw gateway that keeps getting SIGTERM'd, so Hermes can pair over the CLI again. Rather than guess (rotate tokens, reinstall, hope), this runbook runs cheap checks that each rule causes in or out. The simulation hides one cause; find it with the fewest minutes spent, then apply the fix.

Claimed by the package, worth double-checking
"SIGTERM at PID 18789 (laptop) / 18790 (VPS)." 18789 is, as far as I know, OpenClaw's default gateway port. Two machines sharing nearly identical PIDs would be a coincidence; a port and port+1 would not. If these are ports, the "two gateways on one port" cause moves to the top of the list.
"Token conflict" is a hypothesis in the package, not a finding. The checks below test it directly.
What to try
Start with the cheapest checks (port and token fingerprint) before the 15-minute foreground run.
Apply a fix before you've narrowed it down and see what happens: the symptom comes back.
Commands shown are generic Linux; adjust the service name and paths to how the gateway is installed. Never paste a token itself into chat or logs; compare hashes.
